Scope: Wine Package Design

Sutter Home had recently introduced a minimal, contemporary design and was concerned that their traditional core consumer was missing equity elements that had been removed. Sterling Creativeworks was asked to retain elements of the design while bringing back cues that reinforce the brand’s leadership position as a category classic.

We re-introduced the house illustration to support the brand name and its association with the historic home in St. Helena. Our asymmetrical placement of the house in the vineyards reinforces the sense of place while providing an element of the unexpected. We kept the refreshed logotype, but added richer detail in the seal and borders to reassure traditional wine buyers.

As part of the relaunch, we designed a new Red Blend line extension in a striking black label.
